I’m just leaning down to turn the lamp off when she speaks.
“Okay, I won’t tell anyone.”
I’m staring at the lampshade. The lampshade is meant to shade the light but the light is still getting through.
“Look here. I trust the lampshade to shade the light.”
Even as I’m telling her I can see the light shining through her eyes, like glowing fireballs. She clearly doesn’t understand what I mean; so, I show her.
I pull the plug on them both and finally, the light stops shining through her eyes.
“Now you understand.”
(None. The bulb didn’t need changing…)
