Joan And Judy

Part Two

Pickleberry was prone to drought. 1984 was a particularly harsh year. The bake-off was cancelled because of the drought and to make matters worse, the grocer forgot to check his list before making the delivery so there were no fresh creams available that week for the bake-off. Joan refused to give up and accepted Judy’s offer of a cup of fresh cream from her pet cow Mrs Moo, as she was still producing milk. Joan made many cream pies and shared them amongst the community, raising morale everywhere. She never openly declared that Judy had made it possible.
